D-day!

D-day was last week. Our teachers decided upon the chosen ones to travel to the amazing land of Norway, and we decided upon our logo. Only one of our members was offered the chance to travel and meet you all, but no worries! The rest of us will hang tight and await our opportunity ;D

As for developments, we'll be starting a new theme soon. You can see our PowerPoint on the bottom part of this blog on the first theme, regarding the differences between the school is the past and in our days. We're currently polishing up our blogs, hence this post (:

Well, that's pretty much the re-cap of these recent events! Off we go now! Random emoticon time:

School X-Ray

Hello again! :)

It's hard to believe that just two years ago our school was falling apart. It was really bad! Rain would fall on the classrooms and mushrooms would grow in the ceilling. The school had holes in the walls and there was barely room for the students to be. Now it's completely different! We have a brand new school, completely modern and well-equipped!

When we think about our parents' and grandparents' school, we think about boys and girls separated, a very hard and strict school education and not so much future career opportunities.  It is much easier now to be a student, but also, to make it in the working market.  To make it easier for you all to understand the our reality, we will be posting a little surprise-something with our PowerPoint.

Cheers!

Our playlist!

Typical fado scene
Hello! It's been a while since we posted something, we have been working mostly on the PP presentation. This entry is basically here for us to present and describe our playlist. The first three musics are Fado, a unique portuguese music style. Fado was born in the corners of Lisbon, in the Mouraria around the XIX century. The priests and aboots sang it, expressing the sadness of the world they lived in. Fado is typically, a sad and melancholical music but, we have also cheerful fados.  The word Fado comes from the latin fatum, which means fate.
Fado sings about life, deep feelings and the sadness of the experiences that the fadista - the person who sings the fado  lived. It's usually sang by only one person and played with two guitars : a portuguese (it has 12 strings) and a classic one. While it's being sang no one can speak. It's almost as a sacred moment, at least for the Portuguese people.
There are two types of fado : the Lisbon one and the Coimbra one. Both come from different cities. Coimbra has some differences that make it unique within the uniqueness of fado. It's rude to clap after a Coimbra's fado has been sang. If you want to express that you liked the fado, you cough. It's weird, we know !

Our most famous fadista was Amália Rodrigues, she no longer lives. Although her music will always persist as well as the her fado and the fado soul.

We have also some other portuguese famous songs that we love. We hope you all enjoy it :D

Cheers
